Western Summit Constructors (WSCI) has some of the best training and career development programs in the industry. We take pride in knowing that our employees have access to the latest technology and learning systems available. As a new employee you are given the opportunity to actively participate in your performance appraisals. During the first two years of employment employees will participate in a performance review twice a year, then an annual review of their compensation in April of each year. Following an employees two-year anniversary, both compensation and performance reviews will be held annually. During this process, you will review past performance and set goals for future performance. Providing input on the types of training that you are interested in and that you feel will best aide you in performing your job is an essential part of this process.

Our operations staff takes part in our skill set program. Skill sets are a list of competencies each individual can attain to progress in the organization. The positions of Project Manager, Superintendent, Project Engineer and Field Engineer have three levels of competency based on skills, responsibility, supervisory authority and experience. In addition, the employee must have completed specific training classes in safety, technical skills, and management skills at each level. Our training programs include:

New Hire Orientation

Newly hired employees will spend 4 days with WSCI management and the department heads learning and gaining a better understanding of Western Summit as a whole. This ever evolving program is held twice a year in our Corporate Office located in Denver, CO. In addition to an overview of WSCI as a whole, new Field and Project Engineers, attend their respective FE and PE Academies along with SST 1 training.

Safety

Our safety policy is based on the belief that every working person is entitled to a safe and healthful place to work. We recognize our responsibility for the protection of our employees and others established by State and Federal Regulations. We further recognize the vital role that effective accident prevention measures play in an efficiently run project. Some of our basic safety programs include:

  • PBS (People Based Safety)

  • OSHA 10-Hour
  • Designated Competent Person Training (i.e. confined space, excavation, scaffolding)

Craft Training

Craft Training is a critical part of our success. WSCI is an approved sponsor with the National Center For Education and Research (NCCER). We have over 50 certified instructors and teach a variety of courses including:

English as a Second Language (ESL) & Spanish as a Second Language (SSL)

Because today's work force is made up of a diverse population of individuals, WSCI is committed to in-depth ESL and SSL Programs.
