Training & Education

It is a fact that 90% of all accidents are caused by human error. Most of these accidents are directly related to the amount of, and/or the quality of the training they receive prior to attempting to complete tasks required by their employer. We cannot expect our employees to work safely unless they have been trained and understand the hazards and the safeguards of the work they are expected to perform.

Every Western Summit Constructors (WSCI) supervisor has the responsibility to assure that each member of their crew is fully trained in the tasks they will be required to complete.

Each operation on every WSCI project will be assessed as to the risks, and exposures identified. Safeguards and safe operating procedures shall be developed and implemented prior to any work commencing. It is WSCI's commitment that all employees shall be instructed in the hazards, safeguards, and safe operating procedures required by their specific tasks prior to work assignment.

All safety and health training shall be presented in a manner and form the employee can understand.

All safety and health shall be documented on the WSCI Training Form.

I. WSCI New Hire Safety and Health Orientation

All newly hired and rehired WSCI employees (employees that have not been employed by WSCI for one year) must attend a WSCI project or WSCI facility General Safety and Health Orientation prior to any work assignment.

Western Summit Constructors "New Hire Safety Orientation Guide" shall be referred to when presenting the New Hire Safety and Health Orientation.
